Wendy and Jim
I had been a member of Yahoo! Personals for several years and had met several people and some good friends, but I was still holding out for Mr. Right.
When I moved from northern British Columbia to Arkansas, I was swamped with new contacts. Since I wasn't getting any younger, I decided to eliminate the men looking only for dates.
I started by rewriting my profile and made it very specific about me and my ideals. I also mentioned that I was willing to relocate for the right man. Soon after, in February 2004, a man contacted me. He said he had put me on his favorites list several months before but hadn't contacted me because we were four states apart.
Reading his first email was like reading something I had written. I knew this was the man I was looking for -- finally. He said he felt the same way, and within a short while we were regularly exchanging email and spending hours on the phone. Our communications were lengthy and filled with personal information.
Each new discovery about each other brought us closer together. Each new bit of information provided each of us with the knowledge we had led almost identical lives and gone through many similar experiences. This parallel also assured us we both had similar values, desires, beliefs and ideals.
It was April 2004 when we met in person, and we married in April 2005. After that I moved to New Mexico, where he lives and works.
We have had two wonderful years together and we're looking to a beautiful future ahead. Neither of us have had any regrets, and we are both glad we waited for the right person to come into our lives.
I still check into Yahoo! Personals from time to time because the first email he wrote me is still in my inbox and it has very special meaning. Thank you, Yahoo! Personals, from two soul mates who may never have found each other without you.
