Erin and James
I put my profile on Yahoo! Personals during February. I came here after a bad breakup. This time, I decided, I was going to do things right. I was determined to find someone who wanted the same things out of a relationship that I wanted. I sat down and worked on a list of things I could and could not compromise on.
I didn't have the extra money to pay for a subscription, so I let guys message me. In my profile, I wrote completely and honestly about what I stood for and what I was looking for in my soul mate. I wasn't into playing games and I wanted a serious relationship and marriage.
A year later, during March, I met the man of my dreams. He paid my subscription just to be able to email me. He was lonely and looking for the same kind of love and affection that I was.
We started chatting back and forth, asking each other questions, we webcam chatted and voice chatted. Within two weeks, we met for dinner and a movie to see if we clicked in person. We found out we were perfect for each other. He is everything I've ever dreamed of in a man and I'm everything he's ever dreamed of in a woman. We have so much in common and we're inseparable. Some life circumstances keep us apart during the week, but we spend every weekend together.
After the two weeks on Yahoo! we both knew we were meant to be together and we canceled our subscriptions. After dating for three months, he proposed to me on July 4 during the fireworks finale. The uncanny thing is we've lived about 20 minutes from each other our whole lives and we met through Yahoo! Personals. He is even best friends with one of my cousins, but it still took Yahoo! Personals for us to find the true love we'd both been seeking.
We also thought it was kind of neat that his uncle found his current wife on Yahoo! Personals a couple of years ago and now we had found each other! We're getting married next February.
Everyone needs to know, never to give up. It took me more than a year before true love found me. It was well worth the wait!
